Jack Irons - No Heads Are Better Than One (2010)

The album is Irons follow up to his stellar solo debut Attention Dimension. On this nine-track offering, Irons’ drumming is as strong as it has ever been. With the opening song – “Sonic Tonic” setting the tone with Irons’ blistering drum intro which merges softly into subtle horns and sythns, taking the song on a floating oceanic feel. Again with blazing organic drums, Irons captures a Frank Zappa abstract feel to ““Doubloons” and “Right Between the Ears,” which is the perfect title for the down beat rhythms and drum fills. If you can imagine playing drums in the anti gravity of the solar sytsem, then you get what Iron’s is going for on the track “Moon Tune.”
